What Is A WDO Inspection
A WDO inspection is often referred to as your “Termite” inspection. It requires a state licensed and most, not all, Kissimmee home inspectors use one of several WDO Inspectors in the area. We have several referrals we’ve recommended for many years.
We recommend all properties be inspected, even when there’s an existing bond that may or may not be transferable. It can be a nightmare to deal with damage from termites and other wood destroying organisms in a home.
Florida has a number of species that we have to deal with.
- Formosan subterranean termites and Asian subterranean termites are two of the more aggressive species. You can sometimes see their mud tubes at the exterior perimeter, although, they can access the structure almost anywhere there is a small opening. They are the most aggressive and they colonize in the millions if not addressed.
- Eastern subterranean termite are the most common species we deal with in Florida.
West Indian drywood termites are often the culprits if your furniture becomes attacked. Actually just about any wood is fair game to them.
Florida dampwood termites, like their name, are often found with an water or moisture source like, roof leaks and constant wet. moist areas.
Termites cause about 5 billion dollars of damage a year in the United States. Much of their handy-work isn’t covered by homeowners insurance. A basic understand of just how damaging they can be is important to both existing home owners and certainly to new home owners looking to start a life with a new property.
